Laurier student in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19

Another Laurier student in Waterloo has tested positive for COVID-19.

The local university confirmed the case on its website on Wednesday.

It said the affected individual does not live in the university's student residence hall.

“Anyone identified as being a high-risk close contact with the individual will be notified by public health officials directly. Laurier is taking direction from public health and will take further actions and provide further updates as necessary,” read Laurier's statement.

It's the 5th student at Wilfrid Laurier University to test positive for COVID-19 since the start of the school year.

The school reassured the campus community that rigorous cleaning protocols are in place due to the pandemic.
