A new board game is giving residents a chance to own their favourite landmarks in Kitchener.

Kitchener-Opoloy is a spin-off of the classic board game, Monopoly, allowing players to buy and sell famous locations within the city.

Some of the famous landmarks featured in Kitchener-Opoly include the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium, City Hall Clock Tower, Victoria Park and more.

Created by Canadian toy manufacturer, Outset Media, board games are seeing a resurgence in popularity during the pandemic as more people are choosing to stay home.

Outset Media's Senior-Vice President, Jean Paul Teskey, says their company is excited to feature the City of Kitchener in this new version of the beloved game.

“At Outset Media, we are ecstatic that the citizens of Kitchener have chosen to welcome us into their homes this summer and include us in weekly game nights with friends and family.” said Teskey in a release.

“We look forward to continuing the celebration of Kitchener and other local communities across Canada.”

Kitchener-Opoly is available this week and for limited time at Walmart. The game can be purchased in store or online here.
