Greenfields Stables reopens both barns

Since the middle of March, Greenfields Stables has been closed.

“It's been a difficult time needless to say,” said Sandy Noseworthy, Owner, and Operator of Greenfields Stables.

It's a boarding facility for horses, and Noseworthy said it has been trying times for the owners and everyone who lease horses by the month.

“These horses, to their owners, are very much family members, and of course are concerned and do worry about them.”

While the barns were shutdown Noseworthy said roughly 70 per cent of the owners who use their stables were still able to make their payments.

“With the number of people who lost their jobs … it has had an impact on our business … but not as much as the lesson barns.”

The stables have a substantial amount of hay, which Nosworthy purchased late last summer, which helped owners struggling to pay.

“We definitely would and did continue to pay for the horses' care,  and many of the owners who do owe (some) money have made arrangements to do so, by adding just a little bit to their month (fee) to catch up,” said Noseworthy.

Greenfields Stables is one of many businesses that has been allowed to reopen, but it may take two to six months to get back to an even financial flow.

“As much as horses are family members, they are not a necessity, so people's money I think is still going to go to more essential things that they owe, and then you'll start seeing more happening when it comes to the horses,” added Noseworthy.
