CHYM Tree of Hope Radiothon is Thursday

By Christine Clark

It's that time of year again!

The CHYM Tree of Hope Radiothon is underway from 6am-6pm today.

Jill Stoddart, Director of Research Development and Outcomes at Family and Children's Services tells 570 NEWS, although the Radiothon is only one day of their nearly month-long campaign, donations made today will bring in almost all of the funds needed to provide supports for kids and family throughout the year.

“We see about 3000 families every year through the door where we have concerns or the family has things that they are struggling with and only in about 4% of those cases do kids require out of home care, but that is really where the government funding is directed and so when we think about the 96/97% of families that we work with, what we're really trying to do is prevention work and the foundation supports that work … so you know really, how do we prevent child abuse and neglect by supporting children and their families to be able to stay together.”

Our friends from our sister station CHYM 96.7 are set up at the Family Centre on 65 Hanson Avenue in Kitchener.

They will be accepting donations by phone, online or in-person.

Details on the day's activities can be found here.
