SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Authorities say a television producer for ABC Puerto Rico has drowned in the U.S. territory.

Police on Monday identified her as 48-year-old Sara Arroyo Rodríguez. They said she was in the ocean with her sister in the popular tourist beach of Isla Verde on Sunday.

The National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory over the weekend that remains in effect as waves of up to 14 feet (4 metres) hit the island’s north coast.

The station posted a statement on its Facebook page saying Arroyo Rodríguez “was a high-calibre professional, committed to her work and to always raising the standards of the profession.”
