Kitchener centre asking Shawn Mendes to have ‘mercy’ for local girl suffering from health problems

By Erin Anderson

A Kitchener centre has issued an appeal to Canadian singer Shawn Mendes.

In a Facebook post, the Sunbeam Centre says a young woman in their care named Lisa has experienced some chronic health issues.

Since purchasing her tickets last January, Lisa has been waiting anxiously to see Mendes in concert in Toronto.

The show is happening tomorrow, but in the last several weeks, Lisa's health has reportedly deteoriated to the point that she can no longer attend the event.

On her behalf, the Sunbeam Centre has made a call for help on social media.

“We are asking ANYONE, who might know ANYONE who can reach out to him for help to see if he would even be open to a Facetime chat with Lisa?”

The post goes on to say that anyone who can help with the endeavour can contact the centre by calling 519-893-6200 ext. 225, or by email at g.whetung@sunbeamcentre.com.

Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic is getting behind the call, and is hoping there's 'nothing holding you back', Shawn Mendes.

Vrbanovic tweeted to Live Nation, and Mendes himself, saying, “What do you say, can we help with this one, and help a special woman with a wish get back on her feet!”

The Sunbeam Centre is an organization based in Kitchener that assists and serves those with disabilities and serious health problems.
