Some good news for local residents who are eager to go on a beach trip.
The London-based company Bend Bus that started up last year with trips out of London to Grand Bend, has since expanded.
Starting on June 22, the round-trip shuttle service will be offering trips from Kitchener and London to Grand Bend and also St.Thomas to Port Stanley, throughout the summer months.
Trip fares vary from $15 to $35 plus tax depending on which route you take.
The founder of Bend Bus, Matthew Thomas, explained why he created the program. “I started the Bend Bus last summer because I just saw a real need for getting London to the Great Lakes. It solved a problem that I had, an idea that I was sitting on for literally seven years, I was trying to get other people to do it for me, I just desperately wanted somebody to start this company. After a while I decided to do it myself.”
Thomas added that he is happy to be a part of the program.
“Just knowing that now the beach will become accessible to people who don't own cars or feel like they just don't wanna drive that day is just really rewarding. I can't wait to get as many people out there as possible this summer, and just create some great summer memories.”
The Kitchener trips will leave downtown Kitchener at 9:30 a.m. and will depart from Grand Bend around 4:30 p.m.
You can purchase tickets on the Bend Bus website.
