Public board creates committee to look at year round schooling

It appears the Waterloo Region District School Board is going to hold off on a “year-round school” pilot project pitched for next year.

At a board meeting Monday night, trustees voted unanimously to instead create a committee to explore the idea and consult with parents.

The proposed pilot project would see two elementary schools go from a nine week summer break to a four week break.

Ultimately the board decided that next year was too quick and proper public consultation would need to be done.
