Special weather statement issued, beware of blowing snow this Christmas

It’ll be perfect weather for a sleigh ride together this Christmas Day, as we got a fresh blanket of snow overnight.
But Environment Canada says we’re also waking up to a one-two winter punch, as strong winds and blowing snow could disrupt holiday travel plans.
The national weather authority has issued a special weather statement affecting Waterloo Region and much of Southern Ontario, with the forecast calling for brisk winds from the west that’ll pick up speed throughout the day. This will contribute to blowing snow in many areas, especially those that are exposed.
For those on the road visiting family and friends for the holidays, prepare for reduced visibility and slick driving conditions due to the wintery weather.
