Police investigating barricade situation in Cambridge

By CARYN CEOLIN & MARK DOUGLAS

A police standoff with a barricaded man in the Southwood area of Cambridge last night ended after a couple of hours.

Regional Police tell us they were called to a residence on Woodside Avenue around 5 o’clock on Saturday, following reports of a man with a gun.

Police say the man was holed up in the home, and began speaking with negotiators through the phone just after 6.

The incident was contained to a residence, but the owner of Easy Pour restaurant on Blair Road, says officers told him to keep everyone inside for about an hour and a half.

Alin Dinu says police searched all sides of his restaurant, but wouldn’t tell him what was happening.

After two hours of negotiations, the man surrender and was later assessed in hospital.

There were no injuries.
