Environment Canada has now ended a wind warning for Waterloo Region and surrounding areas.
The weather agency says winds have shifted to the west, and are expected to diminish late this evening or overnight.
Damaging wind gusts of more than 90 km/h were initially forecast Sunday afternoon, as a sharp cold front crossed southern Ontario.
The winds may still be strong enough to cause minor damage to trees and buildings, such as roof shingles and windows, with the greatest risk in exposed areas near the water.
