Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Waterloo Region

The day after Waterloo got belted with up to 80 millimetres of rain, with hail, Environment Canada has just issued another severe thunderstorm watch for the region and surrounding area.

The weather agency says conditions will be favourable for torrential downpours, with possible 50 mm’s falling in an hour or less.

There could also be damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, and hail.

The big storm last evening flooded out roadways in Waterloo, while leaving the rest of the region with not much more than a light rain.
