Former Kitchener Rangers head coach Mike Van Ryn is getting back behind the bench.

He has been named head coach of the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners. The Roadrunners are the farm team of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes.

Van Ryn left the Rangers following the 2015-16 season. He joined the Coyotes’ organization as a development coach one year ago.

He may get a chance to coach some former Rangers too, as Ryan MacInnis and Matia Marcantuoni are both in the Coyotes’ system.

Waterloo’s Kyle Wood also spent this past season with the Roadrunners.
