Sears liquidation gets under way today

Liquidation sales get under way today at dozens of Sears Canada stores set for closure, including the sears outlet at Cambridge Centre.

The one-time retail giant is counting on you to scoop up discounted merchandise, fixtures and equipment as soon as possible to help it avoid bankruptcy.

Toronto marketing professor David Soberman says sears still has to survive as a company once restructuring is complete.

Retail expert Maureen Atkinson also questions whether the deals will be that great and advises shoppers to be prepared to accept whatever brand is being liquidated.

The Cambridge outlet opens at 9:30 a.m. this morning.
