Toronto student, 15, missing and presumed drowned in Algonquin Park

A 15-year-old boy who was on an outdoor education trip is missing and presumed drowned in Algonquin Park.
The Toronto District School Board was notified late Tuesday night, spokesperson Ryan Bird said on Wednesday morning.
Teachers and staff immediately notified police, and the search began last night. It resumed on Wednesday morning.
There were 38 students from C. W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute and Westview Centennial Secondary School on the week-long trip. The boy who is missing is from C. W. Jefferys.
Students still have to portage out of the park, Bird said, and the board is working to get counsellors to the area.
The focus is now on the missing student’s family as well as the other students, Bird said.
