Pride flags vandalized at local schools

Regional Police are investigating after a number of Pride flags were vandalized at schools in Kitchener.

Police say the incidents happened sometime overnight Wednesday at Sandhills and Westheights Public Schools. A number of the rainbow flags were damaged, and graffiti was painted near the base of flagpoles.

Similar graffiti was also found painted at the entrance of the Waterloo Region District School Board’s head office– which is located on Ardelt Avenue in Kitchener.

Regional Police will not comment on the nature of the graffiti, but say they are asking anyone with information on the incidents to contact them at 519-653-7700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

570 News has reached out to Regional Police and the WRDSB for further comment.
