Conestoga College extends President John Tibbits contract to 2020

The President of Conestoga College will remain at the helm for at least another three years making him the longest tenured college president in Ontario.
This week, the Board of Governors at Conestoga extended John Tibbits contract for another three years until 2020, bringing his tenure to over three decades.
Tibbits began his tenure as President in 1987 and since then has seen the college grow from 2,000 to 14,000 students.
Tibbs adds the college has big plans for the future.
“I’m excited about it, we have got a lot going on here. We have got a big expansion going on in Waterloo, we have a potential campus in Milton with Laurier. We are growing in our engineering programs, so its exciting.”
Last year Conestoga announced a $43.5 million expansion to its north Waterloo campus, expected to be completed by fall of 2018.
The campus in Milton was announced in March after a call for formal expressions of interest by the provincial government.
It is still in the early stages of development and is expected to serve 1,000 students within two to five years of opening.
