The Special Investigations Unit says a Regional police officer will not be charged in a case where both an officer and a suspect received a broken nose.
It happened in late February of 2016.
The SIU says a man was standing in the middle of a roadway at 4 a.m., blocking the path of a police cruiser and holding what looked like a knife.
When he was ordered to drop the weapon, he did, but then stripped down naked to the waist, and ran off.
The SIU says there was a chase and a stuggle, in which one officer and the suspect were hurt.
What police thought was a knife turned out to be an e-cigarette.
But the SIU says given that the suspect was resisting arrest, the use of force to arrest him was warranted.
