A hot weekend ahead in Waterloo Region

If you’ve been waiting for a perfect weekend to kick off summer, you don’t have to wait much longer.
Environment Canada says our area is set to reach temperatures in the high 20’s and low 30’s throughout the weekend and into our week.
“We’re looking for a high of around 29 degrees for Saturday. And after that, the temperatures are going to climb up into the low 30’s. And we’re looking for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday to be all in the low 30’s. With low temperatures at night, just down to 20 or so. So it’s going to be a warm week,” explains David Rogers with Environment Canada.
The forecast is also calling for mostly sunshine, and the humidex to hit mid-30’s.
“We’re looking for the heat to break a little bit, sort-of mid-week, Wednesday and Thursday when we’re looking at high 20’s, but even then, it’s still pretty summer-like with temperatures in the high 20’s,” says Rogers.
This scorcher of a weekend comes after some relatively cool weather the past few weeks. Rogers says generally we see these high temperatures at the end of May.
This may also be setting a great pattern for the summer.
“We’ve been kind of in a pattern where we’ve had cooler temperatures for the last week or two at least, but the pattern is switching a little bit, and we’re switching to more of a summer-like pattern.”
