$9.6 million in transit funding announced for Guelph

The Federal and Provincial government’s are investing in public infrastructure in Guelph for affordable transit services.
MP Lloyd Longfield, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, announced Friday that the City of Guelph’s new public transit project has been approved.
Guelph will see Federal funding of $9.6 million, which will be matched by the City, to go towards replacing 24 conventional busses, and nine specialized vehicles.
Other projects include replacing fare boxes, upgrading 132 bus stops, and upgrading the traffic control system that co-ordinates traffic signals along major streets.
These projects are part of a list of projects announced across Ontario, funded by the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund.
