A 401 overpass in Kitchener is getting some extra attention these days, as a visible hole grows larger.
Engineers are now keeping an eye on the 401 bridge overpass at King Street, located near Shantz Hill.
The Ministry of Transportation tells 570 News Bridge Check Canada is in the process of completing a condition survey there.
Drone footage of that bridge was taken this past Sunday.
The MTO says some deteriorating concrete in the barrier wall is being monitored on an ongoing basis.

A spokesperson tells 570 News the loose concrete is being removed as necessary, and they’re checking to see if a more permanent repair is possible.
The MTO’s Susan Wagter says the hole in question is being protected with a steel beam guardrail and “continues to function safely”.
A bigger fix is coming in 2019, when the King Street overpass is set for widening as part of a bigger 401-Grand River Bridge replacement project.
