Kitchener Rangers name Hora captain; Di Perna and Llewellyn named alternates

The Kitchener Rangers named Frank Hora as the team’s new captain Wednesday afternoon.

The 20-year-old defenceman is the club’s 52nd captain.

Hora is in his fourth season with the Rangers, with the most career assists on the team at 63.

“It’s an honour and I couldn’t be more happy. I think I have the right qualities and am a hardworking player,” said Hora.

The Cheektowaga, New York native says, “It’s an amazing honour to be named the captain of the Kitchener Rangers. This is an incredible franchise, which makes today that much more special (…) I hope to be the type of captain that leads by example and works hard every day, and can make the organization proud.”

Rangers head coach Jay McKee says Hora knows what it means to be a leader “on and off the ice,” personifying “the culture that is the Kitchener Rangers.”

Darby Llewellyn and Dylan Di Perna have been selected as alternates.

Llewellyn, the winger from Ann Arbor, Michigan, is in his fifth season with the Rangers. Di Perna, the defenceman from Woodbridge has been a Kitchener Ranger for four years.

A third alternate will be named in a few weeks.
