Local YMCA officials would like to establish a “Y” at Waterloo’s RIM Park, when a new library is installed there.
The Record reports that Peter Sweeney, CEO of the YMCAs of Cambridge, Kitchener-Waterloo, appeared before Waterloo City Council on Monday, to say that studies show there’s a demand for a YMCA on Waterloo’s east side.
City council approved a motion to allow the YMCA to take part in a feasibility study for the east-side library.
Staff were asked to look into cost sharing and operating costs and report back at a later date.
