Man barricades himself in Kitchener apartment, now facing assault charge

Waterloo Regional Police had to send in the tactical unit to remove a man who had barricaded himself in an apartment.

The original call came in just after 8pm Tuesday to a building on Heiman Street in Kitchener.

Police say a fight broke out out between two men, one was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The other man barricaded himself in an apartment nearby.

Police were unable to get the man out, so after getting a warrant the tactical team entered and physically removed the suspect.

Police say they charged one man with assault and he will appear in court on Wednesday morning.
