Waterloo Region gets ready for Tragically Hip’s tour finale

The Tragically Hip are wrapping up their ‘Man Machine Poem’ tour and local venues are getting ready to screen the finale.
Free public outdoor screenings will be held in Waterloo, Guelph and Elora on August 20th as the Hip takes the stage in Kingston.
Local venues throughout Waterloo Region will also be putting on events and screening the show, including the Apollo Cinema in downtown Kitchener.
“This is a massive tour for the Tragically Hip and we wanted to be a part of it and include our fan-base as the tour isn’t coming to Kitchener and lots of people were having difficulty getting tickets,” said Daniel Demois, co-owner of Apollo Cinema.
Other local venues like the Edelweiss Tavern in Kitchener will also be holding ‘A National Celebration’ on the 20th to make sure everyone has an opportunity to see the tour finale.
The Hip’s tour comes after lead singer Gord Downie announced that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The performance will be broadcast coast-to-coast on the CBC and over 30 municipalities in Ontario alone are holding public screenings.
