No tent on Seagram this year for St. Patrick’s Day

The City of Waterloo will not be issuing a tent on Seagram Drive this year for St. Patrick’s Day.
The City of Waterloo decided against it after two years of doing so.
Megan Harris with the city tells us, what went into the decision.
“When we were reviewing the tented event for 2016 we could not quantify effectively whether the tented event did in fact relieve the pressure and gathering on Ezra.”
Harris reminds people, there is not a licensed street event, but they’re comfortable with students, and people socializing in their homes, if it’s done safely.
Members of the city will be going through the MacGregor Albert community in a couple weeks to talk to students reminding them, to show respect, and act safely if they’re taking part in celebrations.
Harris says partners are still planning to have a comprehensive approach to safety measures on March 17.
