Erin Howlett murder trial begins in Kitchener

The trial is now underway in the Erin Howlett murder case.
24-year-old Michael Ball of Kitchener is charged with first degree murder in the death of the Elmira woman.
Court has heard the pair dated in the spring of 2013, but the relationship went downhill early in June.
Howlett’s body was later found stuffed in a duffel bag in the Grand River that July.
The Record reports a witness, who can’t be named, is expected to testify that Ball admitted to killing Howlett by choking her.
The trial could last until February.
