The Kitchener Rangers picked up their 14th win of the season in a 3-2 victory over the Sarnia Sting at home on Tuesday night.
Special teams were key as Nick McHugh scored his first OHL goal on a shorthanded breakaway. Gustaf Franzen and Ryan MacInnis both replied with power play goals.
It’s Kitchener’s seventh win on home ice this season.
“I got the puck, I blacked out and all I remember is jumping into the boards after I scored, it was a good feeling.” is how McHugh described his first OHL goal.
Head Coach Mike Van Ryn says his team’s special teams were great…”Bottom line is your goaltender has to be the best for you, he was our best penalty killer. I thought our other guys worked real hard getting in lanes…Guys are taking pride in it and that’s what we want.”
The Rangers host Saginaw on Friday. 570 News has the pre-game show at 7pm.
