JA Waterloo Region honours entrepreneurs

Junior Achievement Waterloo Region is honouring past, present and budding entrepreneurs.
A gala was held at Bingemans last night, that saw some heritage business owners inducted into the JA Entrepreneur Hall of Fame.
Those honoured last night include:
Hall of fame inductees:
-Howard and Elsie Herrle of Herrle’s Country Farm Market.
They started selling sweet corn in their one car garage back in 1964, and now, the family-run business features a 4000 square foot retail market.
Howard says, “we only grow what we do best”.
-The Bingeman family.
Marshall Bingeman and his partners started Bingemans back in 1938 when they bought up Kitchener Dairies; it expanded into a restaurant in the 1950’s. The amusement park opened in 1960.

Legacy inductees:
-Manfred Conrad of The Cora Group.
Conrad has grown a small residential property management company into one of the region’s largest commercial real estate development companies. He and his wife Penny also give back to the community in big way.
-Walter Hachborn of Home Hardware.
Now 94, he was on the shop floor in St. Jacob’s just yesterday!
There are now almost 1,100 Home Hardware stores in Canada.
JA Alumni of Distinction inductee:
-Stephanie Soulis of Little Mushroom Catering.
Intrepid inductee:
-Michael Litt of Vidyard.
JA Waterloo Region’s Entrepreneur Hall of Fame was originally created by the Prosperity Council. The event was hosted by Communitech from 2006 to 2012, and was on hiatus for the past three years.
