Police investigating fatal crash in Wilmot

Provincial Police are looking for witnesses after a 15-year-old boy from Baden was killed in a collision yesterday.

Police say the boy was cycling with his friend just before midnight last night on HWY 7/8, west of Nafziger Road in Wilmot Township.

OPP say the victim’s friend was travelling on the shoulder while he rode in the left lane. Police say that a motor vehicle approached and struck the cyclist in the travelled lane.

The 15-year-old cyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Highway 7/8 was closed in both directions while members of the Traffic Support Unit conducted the technical collision investigation.

Police are asking for witnesses to come forward with any information.
