Wind was not an issue in Round 1 of the Manulife LPGA Classic at Whistle Bear in Cambridge.
Players took advantage, especially those with the morning tee times.
Cheyenne Woods, a niece of Tiger Woods, tied a course record, with a 9-under 63, good for a one shot lead, for most of the afternoon. Christie Kerr and P.K. Kongkraphan matched that later in the day.
Woods thinks she lucked out with her pairing on Thursday…”Very relaxed atmosphere while we were playing…”
Woods says Whistle Bear was ideal for scoring.

“There were definitely birdies out there today…” added Kerr.
Alena Sharp is the top Canadian at 5-under. Sharp finished as top Canadian two of the first three years at the Manulife LPGA Classic.
“I don’t know what it is about it, but Grey Silo and this course I’ve played well, I’m happy about it though.” said Sharp.
The first Manulife champ Brittany Lang finished 7-under, 2014 champ Inbee Park 3-under and number one ranked Lydia Ko is 1-under.
Round one starts at 7:15am on Friday. Follow the leaderboard HERE.
