11:00 – UNIFOR Rally
Lee Sperduti, Team leader, Toyota (Pro-union/attended rally)
Unifor members from other plants in Canada have visited both Cambridge and Woodstock Toyota plants to restart talks. Over 100 supporters held a rally on Saturday in front of the Cambridge plant. This, after last month’s announcement that the automaker would be moving production of the Corolla to Mexico. Lee Sperduti is a team leader who supports Unifor and attended the rally – he joins us now.

David Lepofsky, Chair, the Accessibility for Ontarians with disabilities act alliance (AODA)
A Bowmanville woman has taken to social media after what she describes as a ‘trip from hell’ – Rose Finlay and her husband returned from Cuba with Sunwing…and spent two days without her custom made, 7000 dollar wheelchair. She says it was finally returned to her in unusable and unsafe condition. She says there is damage to the chair’s suspension and brakes – and a tag on the chair shows it was flown to a city they weren’t even in. The airline says the chair did not appear to be damaged in photos – and they have apologized for the incident. Rose recently posted on FaceBook:
“There are no words to describe the disappointment. In a country where legislation supports the Ontario Disability Act and is in place to protect the human rights of people of all abilities. I am shocked that a CANADIAN company has let this happen to one of their customers.” David Lepofsky is the Chair for the Accessibility for Ontarians with disabilities act alliance – and is fighting for a barrier free Canada.
