A 29-year-old man is dead and another man has been charged after a wrong-way, head-on crash on Highway 403 in Burlington on Saturday morning.
Around 3:30 a.m., a pickup truck was going west in the eastbound lanes of the highway when it collided with a Nissan, east of Waterdown Road.
An eastbound transport truck then also hit the car.
The Nissan driver, from Hamilton, was killed. His passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Etobicoke, was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The pickup truck driver was treated in hospital for minor injuries and released.
“We have one male who’s deceased at the scene and another male who’s been transported to hospital currently under arrest for impaired driving,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said.
Ricardo Cabral, 35, of Brampton, has been charged with several offences, including impaired driving, dangerous driving, having a blood-alcohol level over 80 milligrams and marijuana possession.
Police are asking any witnesses to call them at 905-681-2511.
