The head of the Green party admits in retrospect, that her funny speech wasn’t funny. Elizabeth May is apologizing after using profanity and insulting the federal cabinet over its treatment of Omar Khadr, who was freed on bail last week in Alberta despite government attempts to keep him behind bars. In a speech at the Parliament Hill press gallery dinner Saturday night, May played the theme song to the ”Welcome Back Kotter” 1970′s sitcom and dropped the F-bomb in saying that Khadr has more class than the whole Harper cabinet. May says her attempt to be funny and edgy was a failure.
11:30 – Tax on tampons

The debate over removing the federal tax on tampons was debated at the House of Commons on Friday. There have been several attempts since 2004 to get a private member’s bill on the subject passed and there’s one currently on the table sponsored by NDP MP Irene Mathyssen. The Conservative Government says it supports the motion to remove the tax.
