12 local residents honoured at 7th annual WOWtheworld Waterloo Region Awards

12 local residents have been honoured for the tireless and trailblazing work they do in our community.
The 7th annual WOWtheworld Waterloo Region Awards were handed out last night at Bingemans.
This year men, along with women and youth, were recognized.
The Community Hero Awards going to Brenda Halloran and Mike Farwell.
The 2015 WOW Factor goes to Brenda Porter (celebrated for her contribution to the community: send ’em off smiling!) and 91 year old vet Harry Watts.
In the youth category:
Madison Funk and Avinash Pandey were honoured for making a difference in our community above and beyond their years.
Elizabeth Heald and Randy McGlynn share the WOW Driver Award for their work passion and blazing a trail.
The WOW Innovator Awards go to Sherry Shannon Vanstone and David Beaton.
The WOW Mentor Awards were presented to Kaitlyn McQuaid and Jeff Reitzel.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish with his message “I shall not hate”. Dr. Abuelaish urged the crowd to make a difference and says women are agents of change and they are the power of any community.
