11:00 – Lower Speed in school zones

Regional councillors have put off an idea to lower speed limits near schools on regional roads until May 5th. This is to allow staff more time to come up with a plan for some of the impacts that may arise if speed limits are changed. Councillors have been hearing from parents who are worried that speeders make school zones unsafe. However, staff has told council that changing speed limits to 40 km/h in areas where no problems exist won’t have impact on driver behaviour.
