It was a week ago today that we learned of a child pornography investigation underway in Kitchener, involving mostly grade 7 and 8 students. Nude photos were sent to other students via social media and some students bullied others by threatening to extort them. We’ve learned that it doesn’t appear that charges are going to be laid – and that the Waterloo Regional Police Service is going to take more of an educational approach. Sgt. Mike Allard is the leading officer in the investigation and focuses on youth issues. He joins us now to update the investigation and share valuable tips for students – and parents.

12:30 – Bad Credit/No job
When applying for your next job…that bad credit score may just come back to bite you. According to a story in the Huffington Post, the use of credit checks to screen job applicants in Canada is a growing trend. One example…is a Toronto area man – who calls the practice morally unjust and verging on discrimination. He was offered a conditional offer as an insurance advisor with TD Insurance – those conditions included a criminal and credit check. Two weeks later…the offer was retracted due to ‘unfavourable credit.’ The 39 year old, who didn’t want to be identified, says he was rejected due to bad credit, something he calls ‘absurd.’ TD confirms that the procedural check is part of their hiring process.
