The Millardair hangar at the Region of Waterloo International Airport has been sold.
Chartright Air Group is relocating its helicopter maintenance and repair operation from Pearson airport to the regions airport.
Council members approved or the sale last night, which is expected to bring in around 40 new job opportunities.
Airport general manager, Chris Wood says the helicopter service centre will provide the region with valuable resources.
“They also want to open up an FBO operation here at the airport, which is really like a hotel for aircraft. So when the aircraft come in the can get fuel and hangers, and maintenance, and pilot briefing rooms and things like that.”
The deal for the 55,000-square-foot hangar is scheduled to close April 24th.
