A controversial proposal to build a Costco in west Waterloo is the focus of a meeting later today. The open house is being held by the city and is aimed at gathering input from residents and others for the Integrated Multi-Modal Transportation Study for west Waterloo. There have been concerns the proposed West Waterloo Commercial Centre, which would be anchored by Costco, would make traffic even more congested than it already is. The development is pitched for Erb Street West. The meeting goes at city council chambers from 5 until 7pm.

11:30 – Imbibe leaves THEMUSEUM

Just when you get to know a place…after three years in downtown Kitchener – a popular restaurant/bar is leaving its location at THEMUSEUM. While owner Bill McTavish did not respond to our request for an interview – he is reportedly leaving on July 1st due to a dispute over rising lease rates. David Marskell is the CEO of THEMUSEUM and joins us now.

11:45 – John Milloy teaches

John Milloy, former Kitchener Centre MPP – NOW: new assistant professor of Public Ethics & co-director of the Centre for Public Ethics, Waterloo Lutheran Seminary

Students at the Waterloo Lutheran Seminary – and in the political science department at Wilfrid Laurier University – will see a familiar face in their classrooms starting in May. Former MPP for Kitchener Centre, John Milloy has accepted a teaching position. Milloy has accepted a job as assistant professor of public ethics and co-director of the Centre for Public Ethics at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary – as well as a practitioner-in-residence in applied political science at Wilfrid Laurier University. His role as assistant professor at the Seminary will begin on May 1st. He’ll start two months later at Laurier in the political science department.
