We are a true radio family here. Long time employees who don’t get a lot of sleep and love, love this crazy business called Radio. I have been so lucky to call the Rogers Kitchener Radio Group home for so many years…and since Day One here for me, George Michaels has always been on the other side of the glass, smiling and sitting in that chair in the CHYM 967 studio.
Two words describe George: classy and kind.
His radio career logs in at 40. Over 31 years as the Number One Morning Guy here.
George is about to turn 60 yet still looks like a guy in his 30′s. Not sure how he pulls that off. His alarm goes off at 2am.
Here’s what you might not know about George:
He is a devoted family man. Family always comes first.
He is humble.
He is a good work husband – supportive, even a great fashion stylist. He knows when you’re having a “good hair day”… and when you grabbed a great pair of shoes on sale.
He loves his puppies and his tequila. (Thanks to Courtney in Promotions for summing those up!)
Other deep loves include his many bbq’s, sunsets at the cottage and his Duster.
When I started, George was doing his own morning show on 570 CHYM! Yessss….everyone knows someone pranked by those phone calls.
Over the years, we have shared many smiles between the glass.
We still laugh at this: one morning..probably 15 years ago..he introduced me as “Let’s go to our Traffic Girl…”. I looked at him and replied “thanks Announcer Boy…” and did my report. George’s eyes got really big…we went to commercial and he said to me ” I will never call you Traffic Girl again”.
Years later, you know the joke is now on me. Every weekend I get called “Ma’am” at the grocery store!
I am so happy for George and Carole..and the entire family.
Your family here will miss you like crazy….but I do look forward to that invite up to the cottage!
