2015 Regional budget comes with support for Cambridge programs

The Regional portion of our tax bill is going up around 2.6% for 2015, this after Regional Council put the final stamp of approval on the budget Wednesday night.
And with this year’s budget comes more support for programs in Cambridge.
A $45,000 start-up grant for the Fashion History Museum was approved along with a one time $50,000 grant for Haven House – a women’s shelter in Cambridge looking to expand its facility.
Cambridge Mayor Doug Craig says this is great news for the community.
“Haven House has a capital campaign to expand its facility to serve women who are in need of support from violent situations, and anything we can do – both the city, which has already contributed, and the Region, is most helpful.”
He adds the Fashion History Museum has an international reputation.
“We’re talking about cultural activity that will be a generator for local business in the Hespeler area.”
The Fashion History Museum opens in June this year.
