$145-million Waterloo Regional Police budget approved

The Waterloo Regional Police Services Board has approved its operating budget for the year.

Board Chair, Tom Galloway says the budget of $145.6-million was approved after cuts of over $430,000 were made.

Galloway says some small equipment was cut, software reassigned and reductions were made in conference and travel costs. He says the budget represents a minimal increase on property tax bills, $10.70 cents or .6%.

The board also reviewed complaints made against officers.

Galloway says there were 78 registered complaints last year and 212 letters of appreciation.
