Lee Griffi, representative, Caressant Care Nursing and Retirement Homes (there are 4 long term care homes in the Waterloo Wellington area.)
Almost 3,000 home care workers in Ontario went on strike Friday morning, which includes workers
in Waterloo Region and Wellington. Workers at Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant have ratified a new agreement. The association says CCAC members had a two-year wage freeze in their last contract, which expired March 31, 2014. In addition to Waterloo Region and Wellington, home care workers are also on strike in North East, North West, Central East, Central, North Simcoe Muskoka, South East, South West and Erie St. Clair.

11:30 Organ Donation opt-out
Ronnie Gavsie, President & CEO, The Trillium Gift of Life Network
A new record for organ donation in the province last year – up 18 per cent from the year before. There were about 265 donors in 2014, which helped save over a thousand lives. The increase is partly due to new initiatives, like public reporting of hospital donation performance. There are currently over 1500 Ontarians waiting for a transplant – about 3.1 million people are registered as donors. As it stands, Canadians have to register to be donors – either live or dead – yet some have called for a presumed consent approach – which means you would have to opt out.
