Magyar and Robinson help rolling Rangers fend off Attack

They always talked about getting a chance to play together again, so when it happened, they took advantage.
Chemistry is often talked about in the sports world; Nick Magyar and Brandon Robinson acted like Nitroglycerin, and exploded.
Both players had three points and the Kitchener Rangers owned the Owen Sound Attack 5-2. It was the Rangers first regulation win over their Midwest Divisional rival this year.
In the first period, Magyar got the scoring started with a short side shelf style snipe, with the assist going to Robinson.
In the second period, the two were at it again. Magyar would notch his second under three minutes into the second frame. Robinson and Ryan MacInnis earned helpers. Later in the frame, Magyar returned the favour on Robinson’s team leading 16th goal of the season.
Two Owen Sound goals in the third period would sandwich scores from the home team. Mason Kohn tallied his third and Adam Mascherin notched his ninth in one of his best games of the year.
The Rangers dominated the game for most of the night, holding the Attack to only 19 shots. Jake Paterson picked up his third win in three starts at the Memorial Auditorium as a member of the Rangers, where he’s only allowed three goals.
Liam Maaskant clipped the century mark in penalty minutes after a spirited fight in the third period. The Captain needed stitches, but returned minutes later – still frozen from his seventh fight of the season. On the flip side, Mike Davies dropped the gloves for the first time of the year in the first period.
The Rangers move into sixth place in the Western Conference, one point back of the Sarnia Sting with two games in hand.
Kitchener is home to the Guelph Storm tonight, broadcast on 570 News beginning at 7p.m. with Don Cameron and Mike Farwell. They’re also home to the London Knights on Tuesday night.
