Enteric outbreak declared at Cambridge Memorial

Cambridge Memorial Hospital has put several patients into isolation following an Enteric outbreak.

An Enteric outbreak is declared when three or more patients become infected with the disease while in hospital.

Currently there are 5 patients in the inpatient Mental Health Unit who are affected.

Hospital officials say visitor restrictions are in place.

Enteric illnesses are similar to the flu. Stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting are the typical side effects.
