The Waterloo Accelerator Centre got a big boost to it’s JumpStart program today.
It was announced the program is receiving $8-Million in federal funding.
The Program helps start-up companies get off the ground, and become more market, customer, and investment-ready.
Minister of State for FedDev Ontario, Gary Goodyear made the announcement, and says it’s a great program.
“This group helps people in Cambridge, Waterloo, Kitchener, the entire Waterloo Region and those that come from beyond.”
There will be nine intakes, and up to 45 companies could be supported by the JumpStart partners each year, which include the post secondary institutes in the region, Communitech, and the Canadian Innovation Centre.
In it’s pilot, the program helped 30 start-up companies create over 200 jobs in Waterloo Region, generating over $3-million in combined revenue.
