10:00 – Sara Casselman, Public Relations & Operations Manager, Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region
Bill Cosby is scheduled to perform at Centre in the Square on January 7th. The day after, he is set to appear at Budweiser Gardens in London. However, city councillor and a local women’s group (in London) are calling for his planned stand-up show to be cancelled. This, after sexual assault allegations against the star resurfaced this week. Numerous women have come forward with similar stories – claiming they were drugged and sexually assaulted. Some of these alleged incidents date back to the 1970?s – with one 2004 case settled out of court in 2005. While there are no legal charges pending, Netflix is postponing a comedy special it had planned to air later this morning – and NBC has dropped his sitcom.
Tickets are on sale to his Kitchener show – and at this point no groups have come forward to boycott his performance.
