Staff Sergeant, John A. Mraud, Cambridge Detachment Commander, Ontario Provincial Police
We had blowing snow this morning – and 570 News weather specialist John Wilson is calling for another 5cm of snow later today. Area highways were a mess last night – with squalls and white-out conditions forcing drivers to slow down, pull over or into the ditch. It’s also very cold – we’ve hit lows of minus 22 with the wind chill.

Linda Black, Manager, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program at Region of Waterloo Public Health
You’ve probably noticed the sniffling, coughing and sneezing in your workplace. Here at 570 News, our technical producers – Matt Head and Kat Drake –  took turns being sick over the last few days. According to a study by Staples in 2012, 90 percent of office workers went to work sick even though they knew they were ill, and were only 60 percent as productive. Another study, by NSF International (a global public health and safety organization) says 20 percent of people never call in sick, no matter what – and 17 percent stay home only under doctor’s orders.
