The never ending snow earlier this year and an early wintry start for this season has the tri-cities in the red.
Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge are over for their 2014 snow control budget.
Kitchener is $900,000 over the $5.3 million dollars allotted for snow clearing and associated costs.
Scott Barry is Manager of Maintenance Operations and tells 570 News, snow loading ate through a lot of the budget.
He says they loaded snow for 82 days and took over 15,000 truck loads of snow off the roads.
Barry says December’s ice storm didn’t really affect the numbers as the forestry department had to deal with most of the fallout.
The $900,000 is just a prediction as the deficit could rise if the current weather conditions stick around.
Cambridge spent an extra $250,000 and Waterloo spent an extra $100,000.
