Students at Kitchener school create poppy field

Kitchener’s Courtland Public School is recognizing Remembrance Day by re-creating Flanders Fields.

Each morning, students place 30 handmade poppies on the front lawn of the school.

Principal Dudley Brown hopes the idea catches on, and other schools and people start to do it as well.

“We need to tell the new generation what the old generation has given them and given us…”

The father of a staff member volunteered his time and money and made the poppies.

Students pick the poppies up before the end of the day.
